Been having to do a lot of painting lately. Every day for a week pretty much. Not that fun to come home tired and have to do this, but it’s been a fantastic exercise. Seeing every layer on the brush from past jobs. I can never get all the color off. The water will eventually run clear after every use but there’s parts of that brush that will always carry a layer of experience in it. Executing its purpose.
A lot of prep work involved too before something can do what it’s meant to. Have to be sure important parts are tarped off, guarded. Your whole house can’t get messy when there’s a job to do, those parts are already finished and stable. Have to make sure borders are defined with tape as well. If something’s to be done, it has to be defined and focused, otherwise it lacks precision and care. If we’re going to be adding layers, it should be deliberate and sustained, but also targeted.
And so it goes, area by area until it’s done. Pay attention to your own brushstrokes as well if there’s a job in your life that has to be done. That water will run clear, but the mark of experience will always remain. Whether you’re applying your first few coats or you’re many layers in, paint with your purpose. Keep on going through the broad areas where the roller covers, and when it comes time to use a brush for the delicate parts, approach with caution, care, and precision. It’s going to look fantastic when it’s done, and it’ll be a shade all your own. Here’s to your masterpiece.
